A public election for two (2) seats on the Governing Board of the Sciotoville Community School will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Treasurer’s Office at East Jr./Sr. High School from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to be a candidate must meet the following qualifications:

Each member of the Board shall meet the qualifications specified by law and courts of competent authority. R.C. 3313.01, 3313.13

To qualify as a candidate for the Governing Board of the Sciotoville Community School, a person must be a citizen of the United States, nineteen (19) years of age or older, and a registered voter in the Sixth Ward of the City of Portsmouth, Ohio, Precinct A of Porter Township or certain parts of Precinct B of Vernon Township. The portion of Precinct B of Vernon Township that qualifies is the portion that is part of the Portsmouth City School District

To qualify as a candidate for the Governing Board of the Sciotoville Community School, a person may not be an employee of any public school district in Ohio, and may not have a close relative as a member of the Governing Board or as a previously qualified candidate for the current election for the Governing Board. A close relative would be one of the following: spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter.

Anyone wishing to run for the Governing Board may pick up petitions in the Treasurer’s Office at East Jr./Sr. High School beginning March 1, 2018.

All decisions of the Election Committee will be considered final.
